The logo of the project was inspired by the ‘orb web’ model of William Corsaro on human development. According to this model, the spiral represents the developmental course of the life of a person, which is repeatedly crossed by a variety of culture-specific institutions, such as the family-life, education, religion, culture or politics. The latter are stable but changing structures, experienced in a variety of situations during the development. The original model captures interpretive reproduction throughout four stages of peer cultures: preschool, preadolescent years, adolescent years and adulthood. It suggests that children’s peer cultures are innovative, creative and collective phenomena, which create a common understanding and reproduction of adult cultures. As opposed to other models that build on the idea of developmental stages which are eventually ‘left behind’ in the transition to adulthood, this theory suggests that the peer culture developed throughout childhood remains part of the individual life  history.
The logo aims to highlight that in case of the children on EM measures, the contact with the institutions of justice and the experience of being monitored by using technology has a distinct impact among the radii of the spiral web. Through being part of one child’s life history, a measure of EM becomes part of the peer group’s and the community’s history which will be remembered by the members of the group. This situation, therefore, requires special attention from research and should be addressed in the relevant policies.
